Woohoo, tomorrow is the big day. I have spoken with my wife and she has agreed that she will watch the kids and let me do yardwork unimpeded! That means I get to try out my new toys.....toys that have been sitting since late in the fall when I started gobbling up attachments and conned her into getting a second tractor. Well, I picked up that second tractor today. A special thanks to Jack for a good deal on the 912H and a special thanks to Dave for finding a good 16 horse Briggs and plopping it in. Anyone with little kids knows how hard it is to get anything done so it should come as no surprise that it took me nearly 3 months to disassemble every single part of a beat up revitalizer (thanks again Dave) run them each through the electrolysis tank (thanks to everyone who helped....but my wife now wants to give you an earful -especially you Bob ^), paint and reassemble. But I'll tell you what, I gave that puppy a practice-whirl on a patch of grass today and it works slick! Tomorrow I do the whole lawn on my new tractor. Next, I get to try out the lawn vaccuum which was the very first attachment that I bought and the one that gave me the "fever" (thanks Lloyd). Everything sure goes together nice, but I am still working with a lot of rusty bolts. I will slowly tear down each attachment (in the offseason) and run all the parts through the electrolysis tank to make them nice....but also to get a better understanding of how eveything works. As I said before, I am not the most mechanically inclined guy in the world or even my block, but these machines are so gosh darn simple. Anyway, I think that lawn vaccuum is going to work great....but I don't think I have the correct PTO belt on there right now....but I hope it works for just a little bit tomorrow to give me a taste. Anyway, a special thanks to everyone here for all you ongoing advice, tips, patience, parts, attachments and so on. Lloyd, I might come up and buy that chipper yet, but don't hold it for me.....the mood has to catch me just right to buy something that I don't need at all. :D I am also seriously looking for that E-Z Rake attachment. I wouldn't mind finding a sprayer either. I see that Ambler got the one that I was bidding on so please give me an update on how slick that one is when you get a chance....it would have been pretty hard for me to retrieve it had I won, so i am glad that a member much closer than I got it. My guess is that they are fairly hard to find. That's it....I know you like pictures so here are a few.....but I will pressure wash these beauties, put stack mufflers on them, paint one similar to Elon's, get some 5 or 6 foot steer-horns for the vaccuum cart, get my AG's on the "winter tractor ;)" etc, etc, etc and I can't wait to pick all your brains each step of the way....I also can't wait to pay my dues again either....I have an overwhelming sense of guilt like I am stealing or something. :) Wish me luck tomorrow....I hope I can get some sleep! Thanks, Erik

Yep Marty....you hit the nail on te head. No matter how much I enjoy playing with my new toys, I have to keep reminding my wife that it is still "work" and therefore I do not owe her a day of shopping. :) I also though about you first thing this morning when I turned on the news and heard about that school plot in North Pole - but only because you are one of only two people that I know in Alaska - even though I think you are several hundred miles from that town. Did I ever tell you that my wife and i took an Alaskan cruise for our honeymoon? It was fabulous and I would recommend it for everyone. Beautiful state - and we only saw the touristy area's. And thanks Chad, I sure like them....I dreamt about them all night. :D....Now, off to "work". Woohoo!!

there was a spreayer on eBay this week not sure if it is still there or not. Did you put new bearings in the revitalizer? If so who manufacturers them and what is the number. My Simpliucity dealer say they are no longer available thru them but someone has to still be making them.

I know what the kid situation is like...We have a 3 yr old and an 8 month old...its hard to take time to do the necessary things...and moreimpossible to find time to do what you WANT to do....I sometimes thinks my wife gets upset that i enjoy doing the necessary things (ie mowing, snow blowing, any yard work)...Good luck and have fun!

Nice work on that revitalizer Eric, it looks like new! Thanks for the pics and have fun out there. Try not to smile the whole time or she will catch on.

Have a great day in the yard. JH

2 4 year olds make it a challenge for me. Too bad the wife is onto me about work being fun. That really cuts into my fishing time.

Well, overall it was a good day and I must say that I am very impressed (big surprise there) with both of the new simplicity attachments (vacuum and revitalizer) that I tried today. That is not to say they were not without their problems. The lawn vacuum was great but some of the tubes kept pulling out. It got very annoying and it is a SURE recipe to have my foot fileted like a fish. After about the 20th time, I stopped turning off the engine when I got off to put the tubes back together. Once, I forgot to disengage the blade and that scared the bejesus out of me. So I took about 45 minutes out of my day to make some of the tubes fit tighter. I also spent 45 minutes fixing repetitive clogs....but as it turned out, there was a small stick lodged sideways that I did not find until my frustration level peaked. Once removed, everything worked fine. Plus, after a while, you learn to listen for the "hum" of the machine to know it is working well. Also, when there was a clog, there was excessive "blow out" coming out of the front of the deck. The revitalizer experienced some near fatal problems too! Thanks Comet for the nice compliment on the revitalizer, but I threw the chain and did some pretty serious cosmetic damage. Seems like such a waste now with all the work I put into painting etc....but I guess this day was coming. That's the problem with keeping "working" tractors....scratches and other damage. I think I may have found an engineering mistake and I made a correction that seemed to fix it...but I have to put my little trolls to bed right now....I will explain tomorrow and have pictures to share. And to answer your question Ray, yes, I saw the sprayer on e-bay and that is the one I was bidding on. But it ended at like 2:00 in the morning and there was no way that I was going to stay up to try to snipe it....so I put in my best offer and went to bed. Ambler ended up getting it. And I did not put new bearings in because the ones that came with it were still in pretty good shape. But I will definitely keep my eyes open for some spares and some for you too! Like I said, some pictures and good stories tomorrow...but overall on a scale of 1-10, I'd give the day a 7 and simplicity an 8. And Jay, you are too funny....same thing here, I worked for 12 hours solid today and my wife treats me like I was at a bar all day! :) It's a darn good thing I love her so much....a lesser man might buy Lloyds chipper and run her through it like in the movie "Fargo"! :D
