Bevel Gear Box Help

Recommended Posts

I was pushing dirt with my AC B-212 yesterday and it got noisy and finally stopped moving. I haven't taken anything apart yet (tractor is still out in the field) but I am 90% sure I rounded off the bevel gears. I have several questions. What AC or Simplicity models will have a compatible gear box? Are the gears available new? Does anyone have a BGB they will part with? This has been a great tractor for me and I would hate to junk it but parts are scarce in Washington State.:( Any help is appreciated

http://www.jackssmallengines.com/searchdb.cfm All the parts are available new and that is the best way to go. You can find them used but your taking a chance on keyways being worn. I have put used gears in a couple of mine without problems though. If yours has ground the teeth off of yours you more than likely need a case, because the input shaft more than likely has wallered out the seat that the bearing sits in.

This one may or may not work for you but it is on e-bay right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/Simplicity-Landlord-Transmission_W0QQitemZ7761600687QQcategoryZ82242QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

If you have a B 212, you need one for a variable speed. The one in the link above is for a standard 3 speed.

What's the difference between the 3 speed and the Variable speed? Can I swap out the output shafts and make it work?

The difference is 2 inches. The pulley halves move in and out to speed up or slow down. You can put your output shaft in the one on ebay as long as your keyways are good and the other parts are good in the one on ebay. I would take caution buying a 40 year old BGB but it may be ok.
