How many other people watched that online auction for the Simplicity dealer in Rochester MI? I have been to a live Miedema auction, and they are run very well, but I was disappointed with the online stuff. The pictures were very poor quality, plus many items only had one pic. Not enough ID numbers or part numbers in the description. The person taking the pic only had to walk up to the pile and jot down a couple of numbers. I would have bid on a couple of things had the pics been better, or had ID numbers. The idea of an auction during the week, with the only pick up times being during normal business hours also kept me from bidding. I never could have picked up my winnings. Anyone else feel that way? There were some pretty good deals gotten by those that bid though. A Conquest in the crate for $3200, a late model left over Landlord for $1600, a pallet of 5 or so dozer blades (new) for $138. Brand new 42" snow blower heads for $190. Wish I could have been there.

I forgot to watch the auction today. This evening I took a look at what everything sold for. Some real good deals where had on some items. I agree with the pictures. There certainly wasn't enough detail in the description or in the number or quality of the pictures. Of course, they did have the items available for viewing yesterday and today. I live nearby and last Friday I did a drive by and saw some of the items in the fence, but they looked just like the pictures. There wasn't anything I really needed so I wasn't disappointed that I forgot the auction. What I'm going to miss is the loss of one of my sources for Simplicity and Snapper parts in the area. I wonder what they did with all the service part stock that they had?

What is the web address for the auction? Would like to see what they have.:)

Check out 1800lastbid.com. Follow their link to the auction. Not sure how long they will keep it posted. I am curious about that inventory also. I was there a couple of years ago, with my obsolete wish list, and the guy that owns the place just shrugged and said he didn't have anything like that. I thought he was pretty rude. He treated the customer in line before me even worse. Maybe that's why he is going out of business. That and he was stuck in the middle of a rapidly growing area. The old store was quaint, but a little out of place. What about the used/junk tractors?

Here's the address of the auction items: http://www.1800lastbid.com/auction/listings/categories/index.cfm?category=806430336&ID=567 I was thinking about bidding on a 42" snow blower head, but the cost to get one of them to me was the issue.

I just had to go down there and take a look on auction morning. Never know what might be buried on a pallet. Thought I might find some older stuff but talked to the owner and he said he had none. No parts tractors or implements even in view. Some of the stuff had set outside in the crate for some time. Hate to see rust on a brand new tractor in a crate but I saw a few there. No parts, or any thing of interest (to me) that wasnt listed. Ken

Hi Ken, long time no see. Yeah, someone else must have already gone through the used stuff, because a couple of years ago when I was there, you could see through part of the fence that there were a number of old, parts tractors out there. Guess they weren't for sale or my money wasn't good enough for him at that time, because he had no interest in showing them to me. As for his parts inventory, I know for a fact that Simplicity doesn't just "take it all back". Belts & filters are not returnable. Opened packages are not. Superceded parts can't be returned. If he had an old package that said Allis or Deutz on it, they won't take it back either. I know some dealers are better than others at keeping track of inventory and doing yearly returns, but there is always something that has been sitting around. If he did just box everything up and sent it back to Simplicity, they would have just thrown away any of the above items and he would not have gotten credit for any unacceptable part. Normally a dealer would submit a list of his inventory, and then the company will reply back with what numbers are OK. It is then up to the dealer to package up any part that meets the return criteria in terms of condition, packaging etc. Then ship it off, and wait for the company to credit you if they are happy with what was sent. Oh well. You win some and you lose some. Tim
