Corncountytractors Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 We have a 1968 2210 that the clutch pedal is stuck. We took the bracket that holds the 2 rods off. Looks like this was forged as one piece and then threaded. Is that a spacer or nut washer type part on the end. And can it be threaded off. Any help thanks, BOB
johnmonkey Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 I think there is a grease zerk on the pedal. Has it been greased? You may want to shoot some penatrating oil on any joints. Hope this helps. JH
msiebern Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Hopefully this will provide the information you need.
Corncountytractors Posted April 26, 2006 Author Posted April 26, 2006 It has a hole in it that looks like it could be for a grease fitting. Not threaded though. I have Lubed the crap out of this. Still very very tight . Guess we will have to tear this apart. Thanks for the help and diogram. BOB
Kent Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 As john mentioned above, check to make sure the pedal is moving freely in the bushings shown as "S" above. If not, you might need to remove the linkage form the back of the pedal, remove the pedal and clean it up good and grease it... They tend to get rusty and stick on the old ones unless they're kept greased very, very well... this is compounded by those whose tractors sit out in the weather.
HubbardRA Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 I have had one or two with this same problem. As Kent said, remove the arm that the rods attach to. Then rotate the pedal back and forth, as you pull/pry the pedal out of the sleeve. Once it is out, then clean and lube the shaft and bushings. Use a round file to remove all of the rust and crud in the sleeve also. I then use a wooden dowel wrapped in sandpaper to do the final clean-up. After the shaft and the sleeve are cleaned and lubed, it should work like new. Also make sure the grease fitting is in place in the sleeve, and is working.
