I was after some lug tires for my Pmax and was all set to by some from the local tire dealer at $180 for the pair. I first needed to find some 16" rims so I thought to wait until the LeSueur swap meet and see what they had. Well, I ran across this guy that had 4 brand new firestones mounted on rims that would fit. He wanted $125 for a pair. I went away to think about it since they were on 15" rims and weren't as tall as I wanted. (28") The cheapskate in me took over and I bought a pair after I talked him down to $100. That night I bolted them up. I then realized if I was to reverse them, I could get duals on!!! (This disease is terrible) The next day I was back at the swap meet and the guy still had the other pair. The weather was just terrible the whole time so naturally I asked the guy if he was having a rain sale. I got the second pair for $75. I think they look OK - could be a bit taller.

Nice find, Wish I'd seen them first. I was there friday afternoon but spent to much time talking to friends. Wanted to go back the next day and get a hit and miss engine but ended up taking the wife fabric shopping.

Rest easy guys. The "green thingy" in the background is not mine. I am fixing it for someone at work. Yes I know it shouldn't be inside, but with all the rain we've been having lately, I didn't want to get my butt wet taking it for a test drive. The W6 is just something I can't seem to part with. I brought it back from the grave some years ago and just have too much time into it.

Nice looking setup. I was just curious how the inner rim locates to the hub. The taper on the lug bolt locates the outer rim but how is the inner rim positively located? It seems like the inner rim could shift on the bolts under a load if it is only held in place by the tension on the bolts. Do the 2 rims interlock somehow?

Jim, Actually the inner rims are bolted to the hub as usual. The outers then bolt to the inners via a wheel spacer which is basically 4 equal length tubes that are welded at the proper spacing with flat iron. I am using the 4 holes that are normally used to bolt up wheel weights to tie the two together. I have to confess that the outers are not actually bolted up in the photo (Trick photography) since my spacers are only half done. I do question the outer wheel moving some myself, but I'll see what happens. I'll let you know how it works when I finish the welding - hopefully this weekend.
