Guest Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I have a very old Simplicity garden tractor missing its deck fitted with a Mini steering wheel, only one of the pullys on the gear system present, rusty etc. I have had it running ,very powerful. (leaks oil like a sieve) As yet I have not identified the model for certain but think it might be 7000 series, it has a castiron transmission and a transfer lever so was once 3 or 6 speed, I am told it had a 42" deck. The question is, is it a practical propersition to restore? will it be possible to aquire major items like a complete deck, a seat etc? And if so any good contacts to aproach I am a new member and have no idea of the number of units sold into the UK but am prepared to ship items from the US if it is possible to restore it to top condition. This is a retirement project and time is not a factor.
HubbardRA Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 148bty, If you are planning to do this project, then you should send in the $10 and become a member. I am not just trying to get money out of you, but if you are not a member, then you can't post pictures. We need to see pictures of what you have so that we can help you. If this is a 7000 series tractor, then it is restorable, in several different configurations of transmission. Six-speed, shuttle, and hydro transmissions all had an extra lever on the chassis. I personally have one tractor that was built entirely from a pile of parts. It contains parts from at least 8 different tractors. I call it an AC713S. AC never really made a 713, closest was a 712. 712 had a Kohler engine, while mine has a 13 Hp B/S. Here is a picture of me riding the tractor at our Get-Together last weekend. It took a little while to build, and a few hundred dollars, but as you can see, it was well worth it. By-the-way, this is also the tractor that has been mowing my lawn for the last couple of years. The others have different jobs, but that is another story.
