GWGAllisfan Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Since My late B-10 wasn't running this weekend, I was going to try to cut the grass with my 990314 Landlord (best guess is 1964-65) First problem, PTO to deck belt length isn't the same as the one for that deck on the B-10. That is a 48 inch. I tried a 46 from the auto part store, but it was slipping too bad. Also the PTO drive doesn't seem to have the tensioning lever like my B-10 and all the others I have seen. The spring hooks directly to the transaxle. It that just the way the really early ones were?
gregc Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 The belt should be # 2174911, 44.1" HA. Yes, on the tensioning spring.
MrSteele Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Your PTO clutch won't work with the belt being too long to the deck. I learned that quickly. Best way I have found to install the belt is to put it on the PTO pulley first, use a long 2x, and pry the PTO pulleys forward, then slip the belt over the deck. With the belt in place, your clutch should work according to spec, perhaps with a bit of adjustment. I have a link to a manual on another computer that I'll send you for this adjustment, if you want it. And, remember, the twist in the belt has to be correct, or the blades run backwards.
