stevei46 Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Last winter i bought a good running 18hp twin on ebay got it real cheap, it has a red blower housing. so i guess it must be from a murry. now that i'm getting ready to swap it with engine on my 6216. i have found a few differences, the manifold on the 18 is a solid casting, the 16 is cast in 2 pieces and screwed together, and the govenor linkage is different it hits the bracket for the simplicity muffler. the 16 hp linkage is bolted to the manifold. can i just bolt on the 16 hp intake that has the govenor attached to it and use the 18hp carb? Thanks in advance
BLT Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Briggs replacement (Today's generation) engines were and maybe still painted red. I have a half painted red engine here. My cousin bought a replacement engine for his mower and swapped new for old parts as what was needed. I'm guessing that you should be OK on your own parts swap as the 40 and 42 CID engine are different in bore sizes only.
patrician12 Posted May 13, 2006 Posted May 13, 2006 I thought the split manifold vs. solid intake is just and early and late thing.
