jimgrant2 Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 I have an AC 416 that has slowly been leaking hydrolic fluid. Now it takes a few seconds to go. What type of hydrolic fluid does it take? I found a 'can' under the seat that has one center bolt/nut holding on the lid. When I look in to it, there is some red fluid that looks like automotive transmision fluid at the very bottom. Is this where the fluid should be filled? If so, how full? And of what type? Thanks for the info. I am a new to the site here, so if I have posted incorrectly let me know. Thanks, Jim
D-17_Dave Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 Hi Jim. The hydratat in your 416 is a Vickers hydro and any transmision type hydraulic fluid will work. Also ATF will work and by you describeing it as red I'd say thats what's in there now. Remove the cap nut on the can style resorvior and fill it to the plasic vent plug a few inches from the top and you should be good to go.
BobT Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 The Vickers hydro takes Dextron automatic transmission fluid. Mine was leaking because it was missing the nylon washer under the nut that holds the lid on the can. Also check the gasket between the can and the lid. The hoses that connect the filter can, hydro and oil cooler can also get brittle and leaky and may need replacement.
jimgrant2 Posted May 11, 2006 Author Posted May 11, 2006 Thanks for the quick info!! It will really help. Jim
