Tasbrus Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 I have been getting my tractor fixed up little by little and finally mowed the lawn with it today but it still don't charge. Are there any common problems that I should check for first? It has a new battery and starts and runs fine.
goatfarmer Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Easiest thing to check is all the wiring connections, look for loose or corroded connections, chafed wires, etc.Does that one use a starter/generator?
StanD Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 First check that you have 12 volts from the ignition switch in the run position to the rectifier. If yes then unplug the harness from the stator to regulator/rectifier. Start engine & run at full throttle & check for (AC) voltage accross the other 2 leads, usually white. You should have 25-40 volts AC If you do not it is the stator assembly. If you do it is the regulator/rectifier. Check for corrosion on the plug & rectifier assembly to be sure there is good contact. Hope this gives you some input. Stan
Tasbrus Posted May 15, 2006 Author Posted May 15, 2006 GF, It does not use a starter/gen. SD, Thanks for the info. I will check it out tomorrow.
Tasbrus Posted June 20, 2006 Author Posted June 20, 2006 I finally got around to ordering a new rectifier/regulator. My free tractor is up to just under $150 but still a good deal. See it mow below :) http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v66/onemorecast/?action=view¤t=mowingMPG.flv
