sandyhillbill Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 have run into one problem I can't seem to find the answer to. When I salvaged this machine from certain death it was missig the starter, the carb. and now I have dicover that the linkage from the govenor to the carb is also gone. I hve bought a new carb. and plan onbuying a new starter when the funds are available but I think I could build a linkage that would work if I knew the right length. I have searched the forums and came up with a blank as to the lengtof this linkage. If someone could measure theirs I would be forever grateful. this is a 16hp 326437 Briggs
gregc Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 As best I can tell with it on the engine it measures 5 1/4" from center of hole in governor arm to center of hole in the throttle shaft.
HubbardRA Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 The linkage should hold the throttle wide open when the governor arm is in the wide open position. The one on my 713S is made from a metal coat hanger. It works fine. I didn't give you a length because I have a 9 Hp carb with a short manifold on the 713S and a 7 Hp carb with a short manifold on the 10 Hp engine that I currently have on my 716H. The linkage length on these will be different than the one on your engine.
sandyhillbill Posted May 16, 2006 Author Posted May 16, 2006 Thanks to both for the reply. The 5 1/4" sounds about right for what I have already measured on my tractor. Just wanted someone to confirm. Again, thanks for the help.
