onan parts

Looking to rebuild a cckb and was wondering where the best place to look for parts. Engine is still running but blowing oil from LH cyl. Any help would be great. This is for a 9020, I also have a 4040 I would like to get both these old girls going if possible. Most I have talked to say to just get rid of the onans but they must have been decent or simplicity would not have used them thanks, Sean

Cummins bought out Onan a few years back. Any certified Cummins dealer should be able to get you parts, be prepared to PAY. Be sure to check valve guides for wear. The 9020 & 4040 have mostly the same parts/ same bore & stroke. You will have to take them apart to see if they were prevoiusly rebored. Onan book says +5 +10 +20 +30 & +40 available. JP usually has a pretty good stash of parts, might check with him. Also Sears has parts if you can find a way to crossmatch to their numbers. Locally I get mine from a marine dealer, lots of older gensets were used there as well as railroads used them. Give JP a yell. StanD

when you look at what was avaiable in the early and mid 70's it was a very good choice. large displacement for it's size, good torque and long life.

Speaking of Onans, I have one in a welder in my service truck, it has been blowing oil from the tube that goes behind the fuel pump. The hose comes from the block. I'm thinking that the breather is bad, but, I can't seem to locate it. I'm not sure of the model number at the moment but any thoughts/suggestions? Elon

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
