23D, Plain bearings and crank wear

Hi. I was beginning to complete the rebuild of my Briggs 23D for my B10 restore and when I put the crank in to adjust endplay I found that the crank has some orbital play on the flywheel side. There was some wear where it rides on the plain bearing. I have already had this one turned and bought an undersized rod, I didn't figure the wear would cause much of a problem but I guess it will. I am concerned about the flywheel sticking to the magneto and the oil seal failing prematurely. I know I could look for an NOS crank but I am wondering what if anything anyone else has done about such a problem. I suppose a machine shop could build it back up to spec but would that be a safe route? I've heard bad things about when they do that with crankpins but does this area take as much stress? Or could it be turned down a little and an insert made for the bearing/support? Thanks in advance. Chris
