Id love some help with some big ten wiring issues that I have on a recently aquired machine that has been fairly butchered up on the wiring end of things. In particular the ignition side of things - switch - grounding to points and mag would be helpful. Also any easy way to the magnito? Thanks in advance :o)

I don't have the picture, but I can offer a description. One wire leaves the coil and it attached usually to a insulated bolt on the back of the shroud. From here two wires should lead to the points box. One goes to the points, while the other goes to an insulator attached to the upper point cover screw. (If this is missing, one can be made from a piece of hard plastic, like a old pail lid) A wire leads from this insulator to the back of the switch, which grounds to the dash on older ones. the newer replacement switch have a second wire that goes to a ground anywhere on the frame. You might want to go to www.simplicitymfg.com and look under parts manuals. If you search for the manual for a 990314 this is essentially the early B-10. The manual you get covers from Early B-10 to B-212 I think. I've also found the IPL for the 243431 engine from Briggs and Stratton to be useful too. Hope this helps
