gjh Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 OK, I run a 3412 with a cast iron briggs & hydro. Seems whenver I run on a side slope it stalls out. Have to roll it to the flat spot of my lawn, choke & usually re-starts. Sounds like a float adjustment to me. I have rebuilt the carb & have the typical leaking when it sits, so installed a fuel shut off. Any good advice, specifics? Thanks: Gary Hamilton
D-17_Dave Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 It could be, but remeber that the briggs engines don't have a fuel pump on them so in an agresive angle you might try a full tank or mowing on the slope with the carb on the lower side of the tractor. If this is still an issue, try one of the low pressure vacume style fuel pumps used on the newer engines. Briggs used these and they seem to work fine. This would be a cheap way to add a pump with no electrical problems.
ehertzfeld Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I can't give any suggestions to the leaking carb, have of the ones I rebuild leak. lol However, if after you rebuilt it does it stall on the hill? If not I would just leave it alone. I did that one of my 725's. I rebuilt it three times and it still leaks, so I just turn the gas off and let it run out of gas so it doesn't leak all over the place. That is what I would do. It mite not be the best way, but it is sure less frustrating. lol Elon
gjh Posted May 31, 2006 Author Posted May 31, 2006 I'm not worried about the leak & the angle doesn't ness have to be really step to have it stall out. I guess I'll pull it apart again & check the float level. p.s. plenty of gas in the tank...
