Help anyone?
goatfarmer Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Let me get this right.Your wife hits something with the mower, damages the spindle, and now is upset because the grass is getting long? What's wrong with this picture?:I BTW,what model tractor is this for?
msiebern Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 John: I have a 42" deck in very good condition. It has the keyed spindles and nuts on top of the pulleys. It currently needs an arbor belt. My wife & I will be travelling from Angola to St. Ignace on Monday. If nothing else surfaces for you, I can throw it in the back of the Bravada and meet you along the way. Clare is about straight across from you, or we could take the scenic route and meet you in Reed City area, then take 31 on up. You can use it, or use the parts you need until you find some for yours, or we can work out something later in a trade or whatever.
john-holcomb Posted June 3, 2006 Author Posted June 3, 2006 Crisis adverted! I still need parts but we went down the road to Millers found a junk 42" deck and made a bunch of junk parts work. Had to cut off the welded on drive pulley and then weld on another that I had. mower turns a little slower than it used to but it mows. The wife [Roxann] is the mower in this house and she does a good job, no way could she have ever seen the carbide pulverizer tip in the yard, the 4 x 4 she hit last week maybe is a different story. The problem with a mower like a Simplicity is you get used to just going over everything, tall grass, sticks, rodents, grandchildren they just don't phase it, kind of lulls you in to not looking as good as you should. On the serious side 3 weeks ago 2 miles down the road a father put is machine in reverse, ran over his daughter and cut her leg off at the knee. No reattachment was possible. We all have to remember that while these tractors are small they are powerfull and demand our respect or we may end up like my neighbor feeling sick for the rest of our lives. Please work safe! mowing is a job not a play time! Safety should be the number one prioity as we use our equipment. JW
