26x12x12 Lug tires on Sunstar/Deutz 1920

Can anyone tell me if using these bar lug tires 26x12x12 on my Deutz will be a problem? Can I use them when cutting the lawn or will it screw up the deck height. I really only want them for utility work but may need to use the when mowing as well. Any and all comments appreciated. Thanks! Mark

Don't know about your tractor, but I have 6x12 lugs on my 725 with a deck, and they do rub the deck when the ground send the deck up. Other than that it works fine. As far as deck height, if they do change the height, just re set the deck height. Elon

On a Sunstar/Ultima the 26" tires will only work with the 60" deck.

Mark, I put a set of 23 X 10.5 X 12 ag tires on my 6216 that originally had 23 X 10.5 X 12 turf tires. When I tried to put the deck back on the lift chain would not reach. It was not worth the effort for me to reset the deck height, so I put the turf tires back on. I didn't realize they were that much taller. If I had really needed the traction the lug tires offer I would have taken the time to reset the deck.

Hi, If you do this, use a minimum of 4 ply tire. They lay flatter and will let you lift the 60 inch deck without hittine the roller shaft. They won't work with any deck but the 60. Al Eden

As others have said, they will work with only the 60" deck. Here are a few pics of what I've been using for several years.

I have them on two mowers and love them. I like the way they look and work. The lawn they are used on is bran new,,, I am talking 6 weeks old. They do not tear up the lawn unless it is VERY wet. They do leave bar marks in certain areas but that is because the dirt is not compacted enough yet. I have not yet found a reason for me to put the Turf tires back on so I belive I will leave them off. I have a pair of the wider and narrow lugs. The narrow ones will be more likly to do damage to grass. Best of luck with them. I have also found that it is ok to turn tight with turf tires on the front but do not try that on a new lawn with tr-ribs. For some reason I have found that lugs seem to be a little biger than the same size turf tires {others may or may not have found this ?} so measure them VERY carefully. On one mower the little hairs on the new lugs actually touched the back of the deck when new.
