tbsmith Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Hi, I am rebuilding the hydrostatic unit in my HB112 since it was very slow in reverse. I read on this forum that the problem is likely one of the O-rings. My question is, should there be a 3rd (smaller) O-ring between the valve plate and the transfer block? There was no sign of one there when I disassembled it. Here is a picture of the location in question. Thanks for any help! Tom

tbsmith Posted June 11, 2006 Author Posted June 11, 2006 Just joined and looking forward to talking with you guys. Here is the picture of the subject O-ring I am the original owner (well my father actually bought it when I was in 8th grade, but I was the only one who used it). Looking forward to another 40 years of good service (if I should only last so long:)) Tom
tbsmith Posted June 12, 2006 Author Posted June 12, 2006 Thanks Ray, I'm looking forward to learning more about the club. Are there any members in the Houston area? UCD, thanks for the link. I downloaded the manual and it doesn't look like there is an O-ring there, but why would they have machined that recess? It would be great if someone could confirm what, if anything goes there. Many thanks, Tom
tbsmith Posted June 16, 2006 Author Posted June 16, 2006 Can anyone tell me whether there should be an O-ring in the center hole in the picture and could that be the casue of very slow speed in reverse? Tom
richp Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Was it fast in reverse before? If not, then try adjusting the linkage turnbuckle. I jack up the rear wheels and put lever in neutral, then adjust till wheels stop.
tbsmith Posted June 19, 2006 Author Posted June 19, 2006 Yeah, it used to be faster. If I'm on a slight incline and try to go up (in reverse), it crawls and slowly builds up speed, but never to the point it used to be. Forward works fine, even up steep inclines...not that we have any here in Houston 8D Thanks for any more ideas, Tom
