portuncia Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 New comer, I have some hydraulic fluid leaking and I think need to replace the O rings on the device. What type of hydraulic fluid do I use, will power steering fluid work?
portuncia Posted June 12, 2006 Author Posted June 12, 2006 I might add its for the working hydraulics not the tranny.
UCD Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 10 W 30 oil only Copied and pasted directly from manual Fill pump tank to the line indicated at the lower side of the filler spout. USE ONLY l0 w-30 OIL AS RECOMMENDED, AND RECHECK THIS LEVEL PERIODICALLY. CHANGE OIL EVERY 20 TO 25 HOURS. Position tank for drain plug to be on bottom. CAUTION: KEEP FILLER SPOUT CLEAN SO THAT NO FOREIGN MATTER CAN GET INTO TANK WHEN CAP IS REMOVED
Kent Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Do NOT use power steering pump fluid or ATF in these hydraulic lifts. IMO, it will soften the seals and they will start to leak even worse... Don't remind me how I know that :( -- I added power steering fluid to my old B-210 before I started this site -- actually, before I even knew that Simplicity made these machines or anything about them -- so I had no manuals, no info of any kind and a hydraulic lift system that wasn't working.... :( I'm convinced that it only made a bad situation (slow leaks) even worse...
portuncia Posted June 12, 2006 Author Posted June 12, 2006 Glad I asked, the guy I bought it from used some sort of red fluid which I assumed was tranny or power steering fluid, I just poured power steering fluid in. What seals will it ruin. Are you speaking of the O-rings in the "piston valve"? the part that moves with the lever? If it's just the o rings I will pull it apart tonight, Will I need to get into the the rest of the pump? Also do you know where I can download the owners manual?
