portuncia Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 Question, the B112 I just bought now seems to be running a little rough and has quite a bit of exhaust smoke which it didint' when I first brought her home. It had a plastic gas cap on the tank which was pretty worn and inadvertantly I place my hand on the top of the cap and it broke leaving a hole in the cap, ie free air flow. Because it is now a huge vent instead of a small one will this make the engine run differently. It seems that either coincidently it coincided with the rough running engine and more exhause smoke. IF not that could it be that the carb needs a good cleaning or rebuild?
UCD Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 The gas cap has no connection with your problem. If the vent was plugged it would starve the engine for fuel after a period of running time though.
portuncia Posted June 13, 2006 Author Posted June 13, 2006 Thanks for your quick response and help, would a problem carburetor cause this?
portuncia Posted June 13, 2006 Author Posted June 13, 2006 almost forgot any ideas on where to get a new gas cap?
RayS Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 You can get the gas cap at any Simplicity dealer. The part number that you need is 2156175 and they are around $15.00.
sandyhillbill Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 just bought a new gas cap for my 7116 from Jack's small engines.
