richp Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 I don't recall seeing a rear bagger setup on a large frame simp. Are they out there and I just don't see them or is there a reason that I don't see them? I have a brand x bagger I was thinking of mounting to my 7016. Thanks for any input.
Kent Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 The deep decks on the Simplicity require that you use a vac to get the clippings up into a bagger, especially with the wider 48" deck. There were a few of them around, but it seems that the vacuum cart was much more common. Here's a rear bag on a Deutz-Allis 916:
PhanDad Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 The only rear mount "bagger" that I've seen for a Sovereign is the one that is mounted to the side of the rear driven vacuum blower. I only saw one, I assume it was an option at some point rather than towing a cart collector. You can see a pic of one in this eBay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/simplicty-rideing-mower-blower-vac-cab-thatcher_W0QQitemZ7773758493QQihZ018QQcategoryZ66761QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem The seller mentions putting a trash can on the lower platform to hold the clippings. The one I saw had a large bag suspended from the top where the vacuum hose ends - sort of like a large long garment bag. Weight is one consideration to a rear mounted bagger, especially if used on hilly ground. Between the weight of the vacuum blower and a full load of clipping, the front end can get very light.
RayS Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I think that Brent Baumer has one or had one forsale ere at one time not to long ago.
russ02 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I have one on my 7016. You'll find them listed on ebay as PECO vacs. They come in 3 forms: belt driven, driven by a seperate motor, and motor mounted on a trailer. I have a belt driven model. It has a bag for clippings, but I do use a can for collecting mostly leaves in the fall. Works very well, but not as well as a modern high lift deck system. A set of high lift blades would be a great help, but they've never been available for our "Dyslexic" mower decks(left discharge). Weight is not an issue. For $50-$150, they're a great addition of you like a clean lawn.

I beg to differ with you. I have a set of high lift Gator mulching blades on my "Dyslexic" (left discharge) mower deck.
russ02 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 My apologies...I should have said I have never been able to locate a set of high lift blades. And in all honesty, I've never come across "Gator" blades around here. But I do still believe they would be much better than the standards.
portuncia Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Do you have a link for where you got your mulching blades, I am interested in getting some for my 48" deck
Kent Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I bought my Gator Blades for the 48" deck at Jack's Small Engines -- one of the sponsors.
russ02 Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Maynard, I'm jealous. I have 3 dealers within 50 miles. One won't deal with the tractors, unofficially of course. Another only wants to sell new machines. And you need to catch the third on a good day, when he doesn't think it's 1955 works for Sears. I found those blades, made by Oregon Chain. http://www.oregonchain.com/OEP/oep_blades.htm Thanks for pointing them out.
