AC808 Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 This is the point at which the sickle mower attaches to the front axle. It had been modified to be set back about 1,5". Why would this have been done?
AC808 Posted June 18, 2006 Author Posted June 18, 2006 Im assuming the length difference of a 'newer' tractor is made up for by the new length of the hitch. Where different hitches made for the different tractors?(im guessing not) Or would leaving it shorter necessitate using a longer belt? Whats the reasoning behind this??? :-)
UCD Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Someone else just a few weeks ago posted (with pictures) that they had to lengthen the hitch on there sicle bar mower to get it to clear the wider tires and to use the correct belt. In the belt book for years 1967/70 they list 3 different belts simplicity 990623 belt# 101137 68.1" long type HA W/cable lift belt# 1700059 64.1" long type ha W/O cable lift belt# 156120 63.1" long type HA
shanhamm Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 i remeber that post maynard, i think it was the sickle bar was made for a smaller tractor, but he put it on a larger tractor so it rubbed on the front tire or somting like that, if we are thinking about the same post.
lboy1971 Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Your cable lift pulley bracket almost looks new,and is also black. Did you have to buy that? I need one for my Allis cable lift sickle mower.

Jonnysac Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 I had to move my sicklebar back to keep it from hitting the front tiers
johnmonkey Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Hey Johnny nice fab job on those "extenders". JH
Roy Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Think those HD extenders will outlast the mower, tractor, and you. Nice work. ^
