Guest Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 The charging system on my P'max never ceases to amaze me. It's seems to be working again after my latest bout with the engine. Actually it worked immediately after putting everything back together, then stopped, and lately started working again all without my help. What gives?
StanD Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Poor connection at plug from stator to rectifier or poor connection at ignition switch or switch itself.
Guest Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 The ignition switch itself could be the culprit? I recently installed one of Al Eden's relays to solve an intermittent starting problem but never replaced the switch. The engine turns over every time now. I'll replace the switch to see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion Stan.
Guest Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 A new Simplicity ignition switch was installed today and so far the charging system is holding up. Could someone explain to me why a bad switch would cause this problem. Stan - You da man for the second time.
D-17_Dave Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 The switch seperates the charging circut from the rest of the tractor. If it didn't when you cut the switch off the charging system would power the engine and you couldn't shut it off. The other things to watch out for is also what Stan said that the reg. and rectifier connections can get dirty interupting the line voltage from the stator or the control voltage signal either one.
