Roy Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Do the mower decks for the newer Simplicities with the "step through" chassis mount on the front axle like the older models?? I noticed they seem to have a different design/type bracket on the front of the decks. Sure hope they have not abandoned the axle mount. Thanks,
PhanDad Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 The axle mount is not abandoned, just different. There's about a 4" long "hook" mounted to the front of the axle. (A cross section of the axle would show a U where one side of the U is welded to the axle and the other side is open) The front of the hitch on the mower deck goes up, over, then down on the "hook"; a spring loaded long rod on the mower hitch is lifted up so the hitch can be mounted, then the spring pushes the rod down over the length of the "hook" to stop the hitch from bouncing off the "hook". No more pins, a much faster hookup I believe. Also, there is only one large rod from the front of the hitch/deck to the roller mechanism at the back of the deck. Not so sure this is an improvement, since it's off to one side and can't be as strong as the 2 rods on the older decks. Just my opinion.
SmilinSam Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 As described above. Its a No Pin, No Tool hook up. Much easier, much faster to get the deck on and off than the Soveriegn types. I am well pleased with the setup on the Conquest. Then theres a hand grip on the tension pulley bar that you simply pull back on and loop the drive belt of the electric clutch. At the back of the deck on each side ther are hooks that you simply lift the side of the deck up a little and fit the lift chains onto each hook. Tighter steering gives you more room to slide the deck out from under the tractor.
portuncia Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 question on the old style do you jimmy the deck out from underneith the tractor or do you drive over the top of it? I am interested to find opnions
jlasater Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 I couldn't drive over the deck of my 716H. It's too high. I just pull it out from the right hand side after disconnecting everything. Helps if you crank the steering wheel to the left first.
