ReedS Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 I just finished overhauling the hydraulics in the 2110. Added 3rd set of rear weights, and added a front counter weight. Tractor was hooking up real good, in fact I side stepped the clutch while on the driveway (unintenionally of course) and to my surprise launched a wheelie. Well one just one wasn't good enough so I tried it again and OOOPPPPSSSSSS! [:0]:(!}:) This is the result: I guess I'll be overhauling the transmission and installing a new axle tube, may try a newer limited slip diff while I'm at it. Fortunetley I have a complete spare trans on the garage floor. Just too much to do right now might be a bit before I get to it now.....
D-17_Dave Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Ouch. Looks like you and Marty need t get some shop time in.
Ketchamized Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 That looks bad. I'm surprised that something like that could happen from a wheelie. Your setup must be really powerful. I wonder if you welded a steel collar (tube) on the outside of the new axle tube, if that would help prevent that from happening again? I've had some tractors that broke apart over and over again, turns out that it was a design flaw. Sometimes shoddy parts were put on to reduce weight, cause "timed obsolesce " (to bring money back to the factory), accidental design flaw, or as a money-saving measure. I'm not sure about your axle tube, though. It is truly amazing that it broke like that. Best, Erick
Kent Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Ouch... been there! I took the easy way out and replaced the whole tranny with a used one...
Marty-MN Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Ya, wheelie (shock loading) kind of a kick of course none of us would do it on intentionally.:D I twisted both drive shafts on a tandem simi tractor trying to unstuck a trailer.:I
