Heres the progress of my mowing deck so far. After lots of stripping of paint and knuckles, drinking of beer . $90.00 worth of stainless steel nuts and bolts, $80.00 in parts, its nearly done... No excuse for that kind of abuse... 250.00 for a new deck still ain't bad. Drink up and enjoy your fine work. Looks great.

Nice work! Regarding that abused baffle, can you not beat it straight? I bought a cheap set of bodyman's tools at PepBoys a few years ago for about 20 bucks. It included a couple bodymans hammers and dollies. Worked really well. Tacey

The way you guys fix these things up makes me feel like crawling in a hole and hiding, lol. One of these days I'll have to get my elbow grease warmed up.

Ryan, My 7013 is like Johnny Cash's Cadillac. Is slowly being upgraded, not restored, "one piece at a time". You are very talented if you can chew and drink at the same time. I'm pretty fair mechanically but terrible with paint and body work. My sheet metal and paint work are all 20 foot jobs. ;)

Thanks guys for the compliments. This is my first time attempting something like this, figured being 24 it was time to find something worth while to do. Roy thats nothing back when smoking was allowed in bars, u knew i was tanked when i was smoking, chewing and drinking at the same time.... But those getting drunk and taking on the world days are long gone... Starting to get old at a young age.[V] But that is a purdy tractor for sure Roy, hopefully mine turns out just as pretty... Just hope i can find some decals for it. -Ryan-

Ryno, Nice job. What kind of paint did you use? How did the other deck you did last year hold up? There's a place you can buy decals... Linked off somewhere on this site. I can't remember where... They're kind of expensive, though, in the $100-170 range just for a few decals. Not worth it, in my opinion.

Eric, Its the same deck i showed the last time... When stripping it i was kinda surprised to see how solid it was even despite the fact that the original owner beat the crap outta it (look at the baffle picture to see what i mean) Aside for a few dings, dents, and pits from rust and being 30+ years old its pretty solid. The outside is Duplicolor engine enamel Chevy Engine Red, the inside was a mistaken purchase of allis chalmers orange but being inside the deck where you cant see i didnt figure it to be a big deal... Yeah i know the decals get pricey, but i think they'd be a nice finishing touch, plus it would look complete... Course on the other hand not looking to make it a show tractor i want to work with it and have been. So i dont know ill figure something out... -Ryan-

Ryan, Nice... I noticed the dents in the baffle. The previous owner must've hit many rocks, stumps and whatanot. I'll have to agree, it's a very nice solid deck despite that. :) RE: the decals, I agree, it'd make it look more complete. An alternative would be, to find decals that are not exactly original, but close enough. Here is one I found on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/SIMPLICITY-VINYL-DECAL-STICKER-COLORS-SET-OF-2_W0QQitemZ330004364797QQihZ014QQcategoryZ11757QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem (With the above, I read the auction, and it says if you have something on file... And sent it to the seller, he can have decals done. Maybe if you found a picture of the original, you could send it to the guy and have cheap quality decals done?) Good luck, Erick

OK guys i know it took me and embarrassing amount of time to repaint and rebuild this mowing deck. But i had some other issues to work out over here but now that ive gotten rid of my old lady its time to play tractors again. I just got my mowing deck done and back under the tractor and took it out for its first mowing with the new paint and parts and it worked perfect.... Goofy lookin fellow, this is a good pic to show your kids on the effects of chewing tobacco and good beer.... Is that some type of natural gas piping shown in the one picture? I worked for Columbia Gas at one time. Wish my deck had looked that good when I re-did it. Good rebuild job.

Yes it is hubbard, it use to be the site of a test building for the pigs they send thru the pipes. in the center of the yard there use to be a big almost like a bulkhead but not quite that was about 6 feet in diameter and stood out of the ground probaby 2 feet. However they found cracks in the pipes and changed them out at the same time ripping down the test building and the bulkhead so thats what we're left with. Its Tennessee/Algonquin Gas that has the right-of-way... Who knows maybe one day ill be blown sky high out there, then ill really have a rebuild on my hands. :D -Ryan-
