Jac Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 First of all, I think this is the best site for information on these tractors. My hat goes off to all of you for the wealth of knowledge you have and your willlingness to share it. I am trying to fit a mower deck from a 2010 to a 3314. I can mount it up, but the height adjustments are tight up against the running boards. It shows in the "what fits" section that this will work with kit #103256. I cannot find any info about the kit or what it even looks like. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks, Jack
UCD Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 The 42" deck off of a 3314 will fit on a 2010 but a 42" deck off from a 2010 will not fit a 3314 because of the adjusters hitting the running boards. I might be wrong but I think the kit was a driven pulley change. In order to use the deck off from the 2010 0n the 3314 you would have to change to the adjuster bail to the one from the 3314
ReedS Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I guess I could answer your question yes and no, yes the deck will work with modifications or no it won't work unless modifications are done. The 3314 is commonly known as a running board tractor (RBT for short) and so utilizes a much wider deck bail to get the height adjusters to clear the running boards. I honestly have no idea what the kit you referenced consists of or if it's still availible from Simplicity. Your alternatives IMO are to find a deck from an RBT and use that or find a rusted out deck from an RBT and use the bail assembly on your current deck. Of course if your handy with fabriction tools you could always make the modifications yourself. There are many models of RBTs so finding a used deck shouldn't be impossible.
Ronald Hribar Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 And there are some people who would say simply remove running boards

Jac Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 Thanks for the ideas. I guess I'll be on the lookout for a deck to get the bail. If I remove the running boards, I have to come up with some way to mount the hand brake, as it is mounted through the board. When I bought the 3314, I got the 2010 with a bad motor, and a bunch of attachments including a 370 weedcutter. It seems that the attachments are for the 2010. This is only going to be a spare unit to mow with and plow snow, as I have a 7116 also. I will also look for a motor for the 2010 for a winter project. Thanks again for the help. Jack
ehertzfeld Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Id take the 14 out of the 3314 and put it in the 2010. But that just me.:D Elon
Jac Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 That thought did enter my mind Elon. Is the 2010 3 speed a better tractor than the 3314V?
oldone Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I had the same problem with a 3314v. I took the rear adjusters out and used alltread in there place to help with the clearence problem. you still will not get alot of height because of the running boards. but it works for mowing. I would use the verable, you can slow or speed it up in each gear range.

I don't really like the veri speed or running boards but that is just me. Not really sure witch trans is better when adjusted properly. Elon
maxtorman1234 Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I find the 3 speeds require less fooling with adjustments, all variables i have tend to jam up and need readjusting after continous use, personally, i like straight 3 speeds better.
Jac Posted July 18, 2006 Author Posted July 18, 2006 Finally ended up taking out the adjusters and putting in all threads. I also notched out the running boards for clearance. Works good. Thanks for the advice. Jack
