In process of rebuilding my B-10 and need to remove these pulleys to strip the tractor further. There is a hex screw on the inside pulley which I have loosened/removed. Tried to budge the key with no luck. I think I need a puller but not sure. Any help?

I've used side cutting pliers to grip key and using shaft as a fulcrom to pry key out.

I have removed couple of pulleys that were rusted on like that. First try emery cloth or sandpaper and remove as much rust as you can from the shaft. Attach a puller onto the pulley and apply heat to the pulley close to the shaft, but try not to get the shaft hot. Apply pressure on the puller while heating and it should start to move. Sometimes they can be a real bugger to get off when they are rusted on like that.

An air hammer With the blunt drift attached works best for me. Pullers almost always bent those thin pulleys.. If you can find or make a metal ring to fit around the shaft, It will help hold the drift so you can use the other hand to pull on the pulley with..You need to pull the slack towards you so as not to damage the snap ring grooves in the shaft if you do this

I use a pickle fork and heat to get them off.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. So I'm safe to assume that the only thing holding those bad boys on there is rust now that I have removed the set screw. Right? Ryno, Eddie is bringing me a puller today I think, if not I may take you up on the offer, thanks. Thanks for the dig as well, made me laugh!:I Wayno

Hold the air hammer up to the center of the shaft and with your free hand, pull hard on the pulley. The vibrations knock it loose. For these stamped pulleys, they never fail. At work, I took off a 24" diameter cast iron flywheel with no provisions for a puller by using air hammer and a helper with a long prybar. If you can't get it off, let me know, I have one you can barrow. I live in Plantsville.

Rich, Thanks for the hammer offer. I think you are the guy my nephew Ryan got the 3416 manual from. We'll have to hook up some one of these days being in my backyard and all. I got them off with my brother's pickel fork so it didn't come to the air tools. Thanks again for all your help and ideas guys! Going to post pics of the project when I get further along. Wayno
