SmilinSam Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Thank you very much for all the advice on re ringing and 8 hp Kohler. First time I ever did such a thing. Ran a hone through the bore and installed the rings and wallah! No more smoking haze! Old rings end gapped at .027 which is max tolerance according to book New Rings gapped at .022 to .023. Should work for what I want to do for a while. Ran it for a half hour tonight without throwing the rod too8D Maybe that cheap chineese torque wrench I got actually works;) How do ya like the custom muffler installation? Made the mount from a bracket I cut off a Broadmoor rear pin on weight. However 8hp isnt enough to do any real PTO work and drive the pump at the same time. If I had a blade it would probably work for pushing . The intention is to hook the wagon to the tractor and use it soley for hauling yard work materials, yard waste, firewood, and garbage cans to the end of the lane.
oldone Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Sam, I picked one up last week like that. has no motor, but the cab I hope will fit on one of my simps. the hood is all bent up now as it fell off and I ran over it as rolled down to the parts pile!
Ketchamized Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 oldone, Don't you hate it when that happens? :o( I've had my share of mistakes like that myself. :o( Smilin Sam, Your rebuild job looks tight & good. The exhaust is a great idea, although I'd be concerned about the smoke going back towards the driver. Also, there's the water issue going in the exhaust. I'd weld on an elbow to force the exhaust to go left, and then down. Just a friendly suggestion. How does it sound? I'll bet it's quieter than the stock exhaust. :)
