AcFordHawk Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Dave, I downloaded a manual for a Snapper 1650 recently. I believe it was from the Snapper website. www.snapperinc.com The 3pt mower I got with my Allis 620 was manufactured by McDonough Power Equipment, the parent company of Snapper many years ago. The same mower also is in a belly mower version which fits the Massey Ferguson 1650 plus other models. Found out by accident when on a parts website. AGCO dealers can help with parts. There are several listings on Ebay currently for MF 1650 parts.
Al Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Hi, They were made by or for Massey Fergueson as Tony said. The whole operation was sold to Snapper, and the early Snapper tractors were updates or offshoots of these units. Any parts you get will have to come from Snapper, and I have no idea where that will end up now with Briggs buying Simplicity, who had bought Snapper. I used to have a MF dealer that had old micro-fiche and would help me out with parts info, but they are gone now. The Snapper distributor was so-so for help. They were really pretty well built and nice looking tractors. Al Eden
D-17_Dave Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 I sold a 1650 some time back that passed threw my yard. It's a decent tractor and all the normall Cat-O implements that fit a powermax or any other Cat-O tractor will fitt these. I have a tiller made by Snapper/Massey now like came on these tractors. Some parts are still availiable but some are not. Found this out the hard way. As far as how good are they, they have a very loyal following as do the AC/Simplicity tractors and I liked a lot of features on it. I didn't like the foot controlled hydro with the lever speed control. Very cumbersome and sloppy. I do still have a parts deck and a front blade lying around. Hope this helps, Dave.
