dewayne Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Hy guys, What B/S engines will replace my KT17 in my 917h? Single or twin that will not require major conversion. dewayne
HubbardRA Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 I'd go with a 16 B/S or 16 Kohler one cylinder, myself.
maxtorman1234 Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 A Kt series 2, Magnum 18 or 20 should fit with some changes to wiring. I much prefer the twins over any singles, theyre much smoother, and power seems more constant. If you want you can downgrade to a B/S[:0]:). I know a 10-16HP briggs will fit, but unsure about anything else.
Ronald Hribar Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 A major upgrade is the 16hp Briggs. 99% of the conversions are to 16hp Briggs
MikeES Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 A clarification note: The cast iron B/S single cylinder engine will drop right in with no mods to the frame or drive line (the B/S twins have a different driveline centerline and different mounting holes). It will require a wiring modification as the B/S are not battery ignition like the KT17. So either change the B/S to battery ignition or change the tractor to a grounding key switch. The drive shaft coupler from the KT17 will not work on the B/S. But it will work on a Kohler single..
dewayne Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 Thanks guys for the info. Now I have decide if I really want to change out or not. dewayne
patrician12 Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 On my AC 919 the driveshaft to the bgb is definitely shorter than my 7116.Are there 2 different bolt patterns drilled into the frame?I thought that all the shafts were the same length except for the twin Kohlers.
