Couple of questions about an ac b-112

I have a 69 b-112 that I picked up this summer. Everything in great order with a couple of little problems left. 1. Very! hard to get out of 3rd gear. It goes into and out of 1st, 2nd and reverse without any problems. For some reason it goes into 3rd fine but getting it outa third can be a chore sometimes. 2. When turning hard or going uphill the tractor slows down quite a bit (almost stops sometimes). Im thinking it may be the drive belt slipping because its rather old and worn down. Any other ideas? 3. I have a 42 inch deck. I cut with it for about 2 months without problem. Lately, I have noticed a rubbing noise when in use. Anyone know where to get a deck rebuild kit? Also the belt inside the deck snapped today (luckily I mowed about 1 &9/10ths of my 2 acres allready). I have looked for a part number for that belt but cant find it. If anyone knows it or can show me where it is and how to find it I would appreciate it.

Arbor drive belt is Simplicity part #1719819 = 82.1" HA belt. http://www.simplicitytechpubs.com/6767PRINT/PDF_files/TP_900_2222_07_UV_SMBA.pdf

simplicity dealers have parts for the deck and tractor, the belt book is under simple tractors heading dropdown to parts & manuals. Make sure you did not bump the left side to bend it in on the blades, and check the bearings.

Thanks for the input about the belt and deck. Anyone have any ideas about the 3rd gear problem?

Brian, The belt tightener pulley on your deck belt may be worn and causing the noise and might possibly be the cause of your belt failure.

Brian, your slippage is just what you think it is. The Vari-drive belt is probably slipping. When you get a new belt you will need to adjust the vari-drive as per the manual and follow it step by step. Maybe someone can post the instructions for you. Next if you are having problems with getting out of 3rd gear, my guess is that the shifter fork is bent a little and going over center in 3rd gear. Not an easy fix other than taking the transaxle apart. Maybe someone else has a better diagnosis.

Just put new bearings in my center arbor, not difficult at all, had the rest of it apart a few months ago, very easy to work on, just a very dirty job. There is a thread regarding bearings somewhere, I went down the street to the JD dealer and used there part number, 8 bucks a bearing, not bad.

Anyone know a fair price to have the trans re-built? Im going to ask my simplicity dealer what they will charge and I want to know if they give me a fair price.
