wayno Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Has anyone replaced the rubber pads on the footboards? If so what have you used and what did you use to stick them on? I was thinking about buying/cutting a set of car mats and using some two sided tape but wanted to find out if the original rubber is available or what others have used. Thanks Wayno
BLT Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 You can get adhesive floor grip or stairwell grip at a hardware store that will do the trick.
Simpleton7016 Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I am uncertain what they look like or if you are going for a "factory" look, but I have been using 3/4 rubber cowmat for a lot of similar stuff. They also sell it in 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch. It is extremely durable and you could cut it to size and even run a bolt or two through it to secure it. It won't tear.
UCD Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 For the FDT's black rubber straight ribbed floor/carpet runner available at any hardware or carpet store. This comes in widths from 24" - 36" or wider a 1' piece will make quite a few step pads and are as close to original as you can get. Use contact adhesive to attach. For the RBT's non skid step treads work well.
wayno Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 thanks for the ideas. UCD, Pardon my ignorance but what are FDT's and RBT's? Wayno
Simpleton7016 Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I asked the same question months ago and consider it my civic duty to relieve the 'longtimers' of answering this question for the 45,000th time. It is my pleasure: RBT = Running Board Tractors FDT = Foot Dragging tractors (no running boards)
wayno Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 Gotcha. I never understood the whole foot draggin thing until now. I own an early B-10 so I guess I'm a foot dragger. Right? Wayno
