cahickm2 Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Tonight I have having problems with my 2112. I was mowing then I disengaged the mower and it stalled. Wouldn't start for a few minutes. When it did it would run for about 15 seconds then shut off. I have a fuel filter with glass, I could see it was pretty dirty. I cleaned it then it did the same thing. I took the carb off and cleaned it. Put some seafoam in and now its fine. What gives? Also I clened off the Engine identifiction number. The numbers that I was able to make out are: 300421 0127 01 6804191 Anyone have any specs on it. It says synchro balance on the shroud.
comet66 Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Sounds like a bit of dirt or varnish in the carb. You may also want to check the integrety of the hoses, and the tank for crud in the bottom.
MadMike Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Under the simple tactors drop down menu go to operation and you will find a manual for your engine. Better yet, spend $10.00 and become a member here and you'll be amazed at the amount of information you can gather and how helpful the folks are here. Mike
Paul Morrissey Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 If this happens again, after cleaning and adjusting the carb - be ready to get into the electrical. An old condensor or coil may heat up and loose the ability to hold current. It too will allow you to start and run shortly after cooling. Just a thought Paul
cahickm2 Posted July 20, 2006 Author Posted July 20, 2006 Its doing it again. I have no clue whats going on. It runs for about 8 minutes then dies. I have to wait before I try to start it again. If its electrical where is the coil even at? also I noticed that the generator gets toasty. Not hot enough to burn skin but it gets hot. Is this normal?
goatfarmer Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 If it's the original engine, the points and condenser are located in a box attached to the engine,in the general area, and underneath the carb.
tanman722001 Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 The coil is behind the flywheel. You will have to take motor out to get to it.Tony
cahickm2 Posted July 20, 2006 Author Posted July 20, 2006 Well it runs like a champ now. I noticed that the vent in the gas cap was plugged so I unplugged it. I also put an automotive style spark plug connecter and boot on it. Seems to run fine now.
