cahickm2 Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 When can I find replacement blades at? I have a 42" deck model number 407. I need new blades soon. The number for them is: 108258. I checked ebay, nothign. I haven't checked the local simplicity shop, they are expensive. Anyone know anywhere cheap?
RayS Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 By the time you pay shiping from someone else, they will cost you more than going to your local simplicity dealer. http://www.jackssmallengines.com/searchdb.cfm
Paul Morrissey Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 I'll go along with that. Will-fit blades are made of softer steel and dull very fast. $12 a blade isn't that much to pay for good blades. The new number is 1656144. Also mulcher blades are available at about $16 - #90-942 - they seem to work fine. Paul
RayS Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 90942 is a gator blade and will stay sharper longer than the OEM blades. Gator blades are the best in my opion for just a few dollars more.
cahickm2 Posted July 20, 2006 Author Posted July 20, 2006 I called my local simplicity dealer to see what they actually charged for new blades. They said $12.41 per blade. Thats a pretty reasonable price right?
Kent Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Yes. As said earlier, you probably can't find aftermarket ones cheaper, once you pay shipping. As I recall, aftermarket ones are around $8 or so each, and then there's the unknown quality of them...
