I am new to this scene. Today when I came home from work I caught my mom's boyfriend messing around with the carburator. Now the tractor runs like crap. It is a 3212h. What is the proper way to tune a carb? Right now the engine gets hot quick. Smokes black on rev up and backfires when slowing down. Whats wrong?

Richen both of the mixture screws out a little mainly the main jet. First adjust the idle mixture (at closed throttle): adjust out till it sputters then back in till it smoothes out, Then fast mixture the same way (at wide open throttle).

Well the adjustments are way off. I need to start all over. Tell me what to do. Take them out and startover or what?

Corey turn both low and high speeds screws in just untill they touch, don't force them any tighter or you will ruin the needle. then turn both back out 1 and 1/2 turns and adjust them like Tom said above

well now I need a new carb. The idiot twisted the needle off. I was able to get the needle out but now the tube thing inside the carb won't come out and the head is striiped off of it. Where can I get a new carb for cheap. I just need the body, neddle and tube thing.

Before you toss in towel and look for carb, it is possible that the brass tube you are talking about can be saved by using an "easy out". Then you can get a carb rebuild kit and get a new tube. A caution note. If the threads are damaged in carb body for any reason, a conventional tap won't work to clean it up. Briggs' has their own thread pitch for this and they are not S.A.E.
