cahickm2 Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 I made up my mind. Since I have a 2112 that runs fine, I'm looking to rebuild the engine on my 3212h. Where can I find a rebuild kit for the engine. What are the common things that I should look for (etching in the cylinder, bearing wear, and so on)? How difficult is it to rebuild an engine? Or would it be worth just fixing the electrical (or whatever it is) and let it go? the engine is a briggs 12hp synchro balance. The model is a 300421 (Jacks refers to them as a 300400, however they don't have rebuild kits). What are your thoughts?
RayS Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 They don`t sell kits. You have to buy the internal parts seperatly, that is connecting rod, gaskets, piston assemblies, ect.
Paul Morrissey Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Normal rebuild on a 300421 Briggs is bore it our to remove any cylinder wear (make it round again) replacing the piston and rings, grind or replace the valves and put in all new gaskets and seals. The rings usually seat fairly quickly but don't be surprised if it burns some oil at first. A fresh engine makes you smile like a fresh apply pie! Paul
