18 HP Briggs 2 Cylinder ............

I had the earlier post on the "tinny rattle" once in a while on the 18 HP Briggs engine.......well, today I checked the spark on each cylinder and that is fine. Did a compression check on each cylinder and the right cylinder had 105#, the left cylinder had 0#.....Going to take the head off and hope it is a blown head gasket,,,,maybe a stuck valve.....if it was a rod I would think I would be hearing a big clatter....no holes in the block....

In my experience the left (lower) cylinder is the one that usually looses the exhaust valve seat. Hopefully that's not the case but... . As I stated in your other topic all the ones I came across have been because of blocked cooling fins, overheating.

you might want check for a stuck valve, this can cause the problem.if there is a loose valve seat you can center punch on the edge for repair. wayne
