Guest
It looks like the planet eater on the early Star Trek episodes... you can image what it might eat besides planets.
ehertzfeld
Oh BTW it's made by Gilson. It's called a leaf mill, well that is what the seller called it.
lboy1971
I had one but the engine was junk so I pitched it in with a load of scrap metal.
wantedinct
Hay Elon, You could always go into the document shredding business with that thing. It looks pretty cool.

Chris727
Saw something similar at the local thresher show this year. Appears to be nearly the same as this one sold under the AC name.
ehertzfeld
Well got side tracked at work today and went and picked up the leaf mill. It's a lot bigger than I expected. It's in great shape. According the the engine code, it was made around 1972. It's a Gilson Leaf Mill. The 3.5hp Briggs runs great, but somthing inside the box is tight. I guess as soon as you engage the blades, it slowly turns then stops the engine. I showed it down so I'm hoping to get it free. I'll try it our as soon as I do, unless it sell at the local swap meet this weekend!:D

ehertzfeld
Well I got everything freed up, but it was a bit too late to start shredding.:( So I'll have to try it out tomorrow.
HubbardRA
OK, so Elon, you mount that on the front of a tractor with a vacuum and trailer behind. That way you can chop up the leaves with the mill, then re-chop with the mower and then shoot them into the trailer. By that time the pieces should be so small that they are like pepper. Then you put them in the bed of your truck and drive down the road about a mile and back and like magic they are all gone.[:0] Well, it sounded good in my head when I first thought of it, anyway. :D
Guest
That looks so much like the leaf mulcher for the front of an Allis Chalmers. Seems more practical, as you need to lift leaves into the other unit. Are your neighbors missing any cats? :)

wantedinct
Hay Elon, How does that work as far as getting the leaves into it? does it suck them in?

Nope the white try lifts and they just fall in. There is supposed to be some leg to support it in the up right position. It looks like you can either dump the leaves in. If it's down like in the picture, you can simply rake them in. Just don't want to use you hands![:0]
