wminmi
Ok, not sure exactly what rear axle i have, but here's my question: Under the seat is a lever for disengaging the hydro rearend for towing/pulling. It appears via the parts manual (can't get picture to upload...) that the lever pushes a plunger into the rearend housing thus disengaging the rearend. When i re-engaged the lever so i could attempt to drive the tractor, the little plunger didn't come out of the rearend any. Is this correct? If not, any idea on how to free it up? For what it's worth, i finally got the trashed carb to allow her to run. When i engaged the lever (engine off when i shifted the lever) and then tried to go forward it sounded like 2 gears weren't engaging, kind of a clicking noise. When i started to inspect, i noticed the "plunger" thing not moving :( HELP!!!!
wminmi
here's a picture of the plunger and bottom of the engage/disengage lever. Hope this helps some?
gregc
Have you tried pulling the plunger (dump valve shaft) out? Don't turn it, just pull straight out. It looks like it may have a piece of string or other trash wrapped around the shaft. May need a little lubricating.
wminmi
i sorta tried....i say sorta as i didn't want to pull too hard and break anything. That "trash/string" might be the problem.....i'll check again real quick. (runnin to the shop now LOL)
wminmi
you were right, was a small piece of string on there, but even after getting that off, she ain't budging :(
MarksA-C
Hummmm. Have you tried giving the whole tractor a small *Push* as you are moving the lever? I had to do that with my 4212-H, when I had one.
wminmi
nope, didn't try that Mark. Think it would pop it free?
MarksA-C
It did for me. But i don't know if it would work for you. All you can do is try.

goatfarmer
Another thing to try,is pulling it out while the engine is running. MAKE SURE THE SHIFT LEVER IS IN NEUTRAL!That helps free up a sticky freewheeling valve on my 7016.
wminmi
will give that a shot this weekend when i have more time.....just got to watch the drive belt !
Tiny
Not sure if this would help but I had a similar problem with my 7119 with a Sundstrand. I jacked the rear wheels off the ground, started the engine and moved the shift lever to forward and reverse a couple of times and those plungers popped right out. wminmi
will try that Tiny, at this point anything is worth trying! What would happen if i take this plunger deal out to clean it?

The second manual shows the check valve detail. http://www.simplicitytechpubs.com/6767PRINT/PDF_files/TP_500_1039_00_SK_S.pdf http://hydraulics.eaton.com/products/pdfs/07-403.pdf

wminmi
kinda been avoiding the 4211 lately.....mostly spending time on the 700, but i have been soaking the crap out of the release button thing. STILL NO LUCK :( Has anybody had one of these rearends apart? any tips or tricks? At this point, i'm thinking maybe just tear her apart and clean everything real good.....
