MarksA-C 93 Posted October 17, 2006 Ok, on my 610 I have my snowblower. I started it up and tried moving it out of the garage. When I tried turning the steering wheel, the front wheels and the steering wheels didn't move. When I twisted harder on the steering wheel I heard a *CLUNK* and the steering wheel moved about 1 inch. I took out the battery so I could see the steering gear and It was a little worn. Whats the problem? Is it the spindles or the turning gear? Or should I add more weight to the back? All Ideas wanted, please! Thank You
plastikosmd 1,002 Posted October 17, 2006 weight will be a big help, also can inflate front tires to upper end of their pressure range. the clunk was probably the pinion gear slipping. those blowers are heavy, same would happen carring 400lbs in my FEL. tri rib tires also helped me out, or narrow ones, front ags were also pretty good, the regular lawn type wide fronts were the worst on turning, and hard on the steering components. scott

skot71 0 Posted October 17, 2006 My B-208 sometimes seems like it jumps a tooth on the steering. The problem is the steering works its way loose. On the left side of the tractor, there's an opening where the steering arm comes out and the drag link attatches. There's a bolt inside there that loosens up on mine. I can get a wrench in that opening to tighten the bolt, which tightens the steering. You might check that. Take a look at your tractor and you'll see what I mean. 4xbill 2 Posted October 18, 2006 Not sure of your exact setup, but on one of my 738's the steering arm was getting stuck on the pin i used to mount the mower deck at it's front attachment point. I would turn the wheel to the center and the curve of the arm would hit the pin and have to push itself over it. Basicly, I had the deck in the wrong mounting hole and the pin was not the right one.
