I tightened those little bolts on the end the way it says to in the manual. Took it for a spin and they didnt work only one wheel spun as always. Is there a solution or easy fix for this?

Mat, It is not posi-traction, it is a controlled slip. You can make one wheel slip, but the slippage is less than you would have with an undampened diff. I have a late model spring loaded limited slip unit in my 61 Wards. I have shimmed the springs to give it even more friction. It is tight enough that I can put the lug bolts on the rear wheels and tighten them with the one wheel off the ground. When we were pulling some telephone poles with it, going around a slope, it still was stopped with only one wheel spinning. It all depends on the situation and the loading. Basically all you have is a friction clutch to prevent one wheel from spinning. If the force gets high enough to overcome the friction, then the wheel will spin. If you want both wheels locked together at all times, I can tell you how to do that.

Isnt there a way to make it a lock so they both turn no matter what?

Mat, you do not want a locked differential. The tractor will be very hard to turn (about a 20ft radius), the front tires will tear up the grass, and you will NEVER get it to come around on snow or ice. But yes you can lock the diff by diassembling the diff and reassemble it wrong, just switch any one or two of the small spider gears from the proper stagger and the differential will not work (locked up).

Mat, Mike is correct. I ran a locked rear in one of my pulling tractors several years ago. It was a pain, because of the amount of room it took to turn the tractor around. Your best bet would be a set of wheel weights or loading of the tires with liquid, if you have real traction problems. It is hard for us to help you, since you haven't told us what you are attempting to do with the tractor.

I do a lot of grading on a sand beach with lower air pressure in the tires to provide more tire surface to increase traction plus a lot of weight. I also have installed tubes in the tires to keep them from going flat --- I run with about 4 psi in the back tires, just enough air to keep the tires from going flat. I would not use liquid filled tires to get weight and traction because you need to get more contact surface area. This is what works for me.
