Mrgoodwrench22 0 Posted October 18, 2006 good afternoon,I recently put out an add locally for old lawnmowers, after many calls I wound up with 21 push mowers and 4 riders, nothing special in the bunch. Needless to say I was disappointed, but this morning I picked up something good{I think} I'm pretty sure its a simplicity this is what I know so far: no #'s visible any where on machine{spray can red paint job} engine is a B&S model 326431 type 2582-01 code 87072314 which if I am correct that makes it an 87 year model 16hp now the tractor looks like a 3416S it does have shuttle shift and I can see the outline of the shuttle decals on the sides under the paint it has a plastic fuel tank and the hood has the holes drilled in it for the side mount head lights (now missing) under the hood is white so I think that rules out it being an A/C but unlike the 3416s it has running boards.I searched the simpletractors site but I could not find a picture that clearly showed a model with running boards. If any of you can help with other things I can look for to narrow down my search I would appreciate it. So long, its raining again gonna take a snooze and dream up new ways to use my growing fleet.
UCD 14 Posted October 18, 2006 3400 series had running boards. The last year for 3400 series was 1974. If the engine is original and it is an 87 it is a 7100 series. johnmonkey 4 Posted October 18, 2006 Hey Maynard, that is a great chart, after all these years, that is the first time I have ever seen that chart. Thanks. JH
gregc 3 Posted October 18, 2006 Another thing to look for is whether the tractor has a generator warning light or an ammeter. The 3400 series had the light and the 7000 series the ammeter. The engine is probably a replacement. I don't think Simplicity used any with those type numbers in '87.
Mrgoodwrench22 0 Posted October 18, 2006 Greg, thanks for the idea. It has a amp gauge not a light.I carefully cleaned the paint off of the tag only to find it torn,I did find partial numbers 1690----- 004278 cant seem to get any where just not enough numbers. gregc 3 Posted October 18, 2006 Sounds like the tractor that you have is a MFG #1690015 7013S. That's if the tractor has not had parts added from other tractors. As far as I know the 7013S was the only early 7000 series that had the hood with the outboard lights and was a shuttle.
UCD 14 Posted October 18, 2006 1690000 MFG# series were the early System 7000 model series tractors with the quad lights on outside of hood. 1690200 MFG# series were the late 7000 model series tractors with the lights inside of the grill. The early model 1975/76 System 7013S Baron MFG# 1690015 was only shuttle with the lights on outside of grill.
Mrgoodwrench22 0 Posted October 18, 2006 Thanks gregc and UCD for the information I think that I have 7013S baron I've got to look around and find a few parts(rod for rear lift is missing) and the correct paint, but I am happy with my newest fleet member. Again thanks from the orange coast of N.C.

Mrgoodwrench22 0 Posted October 20, 2006 gregc, thanks for the diagram I've never owned such a new model(LOL) all my girls are 1960's era so I didn't know any better. Have given the 7013S a good lookover and Iam pleased with it, especially with the 16hp transplant which appears to have been a generator power plant.I am currently debating whether to transplant a B&S twin 16 horizontal into an old B-12 I recently got that has the rod hanging out the side of the block. Old lady hates it but got to tinker on something.
