MarksA-C 93 Posted October 20, 2006 Ok. No that everyting else is fixed, I can get to the Extras.^ I have a set of Fog-Lights that I picked up at a rummage sale for $5. I made brackets/spacers and they fit great. But How do I run them? Do I go directly to the battery or through the engine? I have looked everywhere on info how to this. Thank You
Guest Posted October 20, 2006 On the newer machines, you run a wire from your switch, to a fuse, to a switch, to the lights... except if the new lights draw too much power, you might have an issue. I don't know the current capacity of the system. I'm sure others will chime in. A friend once put aircraft landing lights in his Ford LTD, burnt out the switch because they drew too much power, so he added a relay to the battery; very bright lights. :)

Thank You That is how I have all mine run. I use thouse cheep rubber housed utility light so I don't think they take too much power. they work just fine. Mat Perucci 0 Posted October 20, 2006 What i did with my 55watt lights was run a wire from the battery to a switch run the wire to the lights from the switch make a ground and there you go you got lights its hard to understand if its your very first time it will take a few minutes to get to you and make sense. I had the same problem.
MarksA-C 93 Posted October 20, 2006 Tom, they are going on my 610Lt... along with my cab from shanhamm (THANX!) I tested them and they are REALLY bright, and the alternator makes up the lost power in no-time. Thank You all for your help.
Guest Posted October 20, 2006 Mark, you should add a fuse in line as close as possible to the power source, that way if you accidently get a short, you don't get a heater wire burning everything in your tractor. Your 55 watt lights would need a 5 amp fuse, I'd go 10 amps.
Boney 0 Posted October 21, 2006 I did my light s a little while ago and did them like the others with adding a fuse on the wire from the switch to the battery. I am using two 35 watt lights with no problem,,,,,,,yet. lol lol

Since the current rating of a fuse is typically de-rated 25% for operation at 25° C to avoid nuisance blowing and the fuse is probably going to be installed under the hood of the tractor in an inline fuse holder where ambient temps are likely to be much higher, I would use a 20 amp fuse. Paul_B 0 Posted October 22, 2006 With powering a those 55w lights and a tail light, you may want to consider installing a relay to handle the switched power. They are just a couple of bucks from an autoparts store.
