T-10 charging problem

Recommended Posts

1975T-10
I have a t-10 and when i start it up it charges fine but after about 5 minutes drops off to nothing and intermittently jumps to -10 A discharge if I bump the ignition key it will move back to no discharge. Have put a ground to the post on the gen and it will start putting out current when i do this, already replaced the regulator any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I would say your charging system is working just fine. It does sound asthough you have an intermittant short somewhere on the tractor. A volt meter across the battery will tell you much more about your charging system than the amp meter will.

Sounds like you have a bad ign. switch.

I read another post that mentioned the ignition switch had something to do with the charging system I think I will give that a shot. Already looked for shorts in the system and everything checks out ok. Its seems like once the tractor warms up something is causing the gen not to see the ground being applied by the regulator. Thanks for the replies I need all the help I can get.
