question: is the wonderboy 700 'sposed to be posotive ground? question: anybody got a wiring diagram for this tractor? And yes, JUST got back with the 700.....she runs really well and steers like it's got power steering! Need to clean the carb (float sticks, have gas all over) and re-wire it if i can, and should be good enough to push the B-12 snow blade this winter :D Pix in the "schmoe & till" area a bit later......

No it is not Positive ground. This is is the only diagram I can find. It is from the 700/725 manual and is the same diagram as the B-1 but different part#s

Maynard is right, that is one of the better pictures around, I got the same pic from him a while back. Has been of great help. My 725 has a negative ground.

thanx guys....just wondering why in the world this one is wired for posotive ground? Is it as easy as just swapping the battery wires, or do i need to do something else? Also, i noticed in the diagram above the ignition switch (AY) has only one wire.....my ignition switch has 5 or 6 posts on it with no wires :( I do have a kill "button" on the side of the points housing/cover, but would rather run a keyed switch if possible. One more question: if all i have wired in now is the starter button, would the battery slowly drain until dead? I know if the regulator and generator are good and i run her often she should stay charged up, but i'm fairly sure at the least the regulater is shot.....

If it's been wired positive ground for a while, you'll need to re 'polarize' the starter/generator.

I wonder if the starter generator is off from a Cub.I know that they are set up different and turn backward to a simplicity so if you go positive ground they will turn backward from what they are design to work.Might be wrong but it came to mind.

i was sorta thinking the same thing.....well, actually, thinking more along the lines that if i reverse polarity it would make the generator/starter run backwords [:0]

If I remember correctly the S/G will be automatically polarized when the starter is engaged to start the motor. Note that the battery cables will have be reversed or you will have to completely run the battery down and recharge it with the negative ground configuration.

gonna check the S/G tomorrow and see if she runs the right way with the cables swapped around. if not, i got one on a 738 that may work as a replacement.....wish me luck!

well..... Got the cables swapped around and the S/G still turns in the correct direction. Sucker started right up :D Still going to re-wire it though, as it would be nice to be able to charge the battery..........
