alright, maybe i'm not searching correctly, or maybe i'm just plain lost B) Where can i find information on checking the S/G? Like when it's running, there should be a way to check what's coming out of the sucker voltage wise? How's about checking a voltage regulator? I know i saw this information somewhere not too long ago, but instead of bookmarking the page i just cruised on by and cannot find it now :(

A volt meter will tell if it's charging. With the tractor running, measure voltage at the battery. Should be 13V or above.

right, but my dilemma is that the only thing working on this one (the 700) is the starting side of the S/G as nothing else is wired in. Figured i would check to see if everything was good before i attempted to rewire the thing.

Does anyone know a good source of parts to rebuild S/G's? I need a terminal that has been broken off.

The starter is GM and the brushes are avaiable thru NAPA.Take it apart and clean between the commutator with a dentist pick, sandpaper lightly the where the brushes ride and install new brushes.Unless the front bearing where the pulley is is wiped out do not attempt to remove the pulley without the proper jig you will destroy it.The s/g belts are not that tight so bearing failure is remote. As far as the starter generator in the Briggs Lhead manual they have a clear and understandable diagram.
