wminmi 0 Posted October 25, 2006 do you guys think this would work for a wiring system on an old 700?
HubbardRA 19 Posted October 25, 2006 Wiring of a starter-genarator is the same, regardless of which engine is being used with. You will need an additional ON-OFF switch to kill the engine.

Only thing is i don't have a keyed switch. had thought about getting a "universal" style switch, but haven't gotten that far into it just yet. Thanx guys :D
wminmi 0 Posted October 25, 2006 oh yeah, and this thing doesn't have a starting solinoid either, just the positive cable from the battery to the push button then on to the S/G
HubbardRA 19 Posted October 25, 2006 That very large push button is a "mechanical" solenoid, just a large switch. I have the same push botton on my 61 Wards (Simp 700), even though it now has a 14 Hp Kohler with bendix starter and flywheel alternator.
UCD 14 Posted October 25, 2006 As rod says the push button is just a mechinical switch. As for the keyed switch you can use a toggle switch. For that matter any type switch. But in your case you don't need a switch as you have the kill button on the points cover.
