I Got an e-mail offering a sickle bar mower for 300. The problem is i cant pick it up because its 200 miles away. maybe close enough for somebody else but a little far for me. It costs around $250 to ship. heres a Picture of it i was sent. Think its worth shipping? The most important part is missing. The cutter bar. And thy are hard to find. Not worth $300.00.

Maynard, What is missing? It looks to me that it has the bar with the knife sections installed. Is that what you mean by cutter bar?

Nice sickle. Worth $300. I've shipped them for less than $100, needs to be broken down and separated into smaller packages. If it were me and I wanted it bad I'd offer the seller a couple of extra $$$ to break it down. Good ones have brought $400+ on Ebay (on a good day). $550 sounds like a ton of money and may be a tad high but ultimatly the choice is yours. Keep in mind 200 miles = approx 4 hrs drive time.

I generally ship in two boxes. Board, cutter/bar in one and the hitch/drive in another. Its only 3-5 bolts to split it in two if I remember right.

Its in PA. Thanks for the offer Paul I appreciate that. And what im getting is that its good. I cant pick it up myself and im sahring it with a friend an allis collector and co worker about 3 miles away i asked him if he would pick it up but hes too cheap. Even with the fact in mind that he will meet us half way. Im not sure if hes interested in breaking it down but i will ask.

I'm in South Central PA. Lancaster County. I already have a sickle bar for my Big Ten. Where is it at? If it is close, I might be able to pick up for you the hold it until you get arrangements made. GregB

Hey, don't rush. You are not going to be cutting to much grass in the near future.

Its the same one I just picked up last summer in about the same condition, with a B-110 and dozer blade. Got mine working and have cut some grass with it, it has its uses but I had higher hopes for it than ultimately panned out. Since buying my rotary weed cutter from Sam I think it will get less work but still have utility on the roadside banks and such. Good luck with it, its definitely a collectors item. BTW these have alot of vibrating moving parts and need to be lubed regularly while in use. I keep a can of spray grease with me on the tractor and stop every so often and spray the cutter bar with it. It may be a difficult attachment to share as using it requires low rpms and probably more upkeep and preventive maintanance than most attachments, both owners will have to be dilligent and careful in its use or one of you will be constantly fixing the others negligence.
