Appreciation of knowledge

Recommended Posts

outlawed0810
Hello everyone, Bear with me as this is my first post. But I wanted to give some well deserved gratitude and appreciation to one of your members. I've been sitting idley by watching and reading for months and being an "apprentice" to Zippo--who's been teaching me alot about fixing up and repairing motors as well as tractors. Recently I got to observe the wonders that be in action by taking a briggs engine that was non-running(sat outside in the rain by someone else) to a sweet sounding purring kitten. I've learned alot from reading posts but doing the hands on work makes it all worthwhile. So a great big kudos to Zippo as well as everyone on the site with the enormous amount of knowledge to be takin in by us newcomers 8) Thanks to all

JJ's a good partner when it comes to working on things in my shop because she knows where everything is and it saves me steps. I dont know if you all remember or not but she was also the one that helped me on the 23D in the landlord a few months back when I aquired the 64 LL with the locked up 23D. She's an asset when I'm feeling bad because she'll step right in and follow instruction like a pro. Thanks JJ. I wouldnt be where I am with my abilities if not for the help and assistance of the other members.

Larry, This is Jen's tractor. I dont know if any one remembers it, but this gilson based lawnboy was rescued from under a fallen tree. After putting in a 12hp from a Dead Deere 110, I did a little sheetmetal work to get the hood back in shape and put a new idler on the deck then the lawnboy was ready to go. Jen wound up with it when her Father gave her his old "Centar" of MTD fame which had a bad unidrive transaxle but a new vanguard 16.5 HP ohv twin. I gave her the lawnboy in trade for parts off the centar and she's kept her in great running condition all season long. This winter we will find her an A/C or Simplicity that needs work and then Jenn can work on it through the winter to ready it for the spring. Then I'll get the lawnboy back (since it's my Mothers favorite mower). ;) I think i'll look for either a hydro or a shuttle drive for her so that her daughter can help mow too. Her son already jumps off the bus and hops on to get the lawn done, but her tiny little mini me needs an easier machine to handle. Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!! Sean

Thanks for the welcome guys:) Hey Scott yes I'm in Parker too...not too far away from you actually. I'm in town behind the vet myself. I've learned alot so far but still have a long ways to go...lol Larry, sorry it's not a simplicity...but someday I'll get one. So for now I just enjoy helping work on Sean's. I couldn't ask for a better teacher. Thanks for posting the pic for me Sean. And yes my little mini me loves riding the tractors too and she gets to help when "mom" is working the pedals as long as we can get my son off of it. lol. Have a good one guys;)

Jen the important thing is just getting in the shop and tinkering..good stress relief and clearing your head. Kenny don't say the S(now) word!! or at least keep it on the Indiana side of the Ohio river. I'd like to go the whole winter without snow this year.

We already had about an inch or so of the wet, nasty stuff, off Lake Michigan. No snow would do me fine, don't expect that to happen! Maynard,IIRC,I believe that was Sean's tractor, when the picture was taken.

UCD... Come on. He posted the picture for himself, not FOR her. And, yes, I understand the need for rules. I guess this means no more pictures of tractors that members might buy from a non member. Jen, if you need a sponsor to raise the $10 membership fee, let me know. I'd be glad to help. Just an offer

Maynard, you are correct. Posting pictures for non paying members is against club rules. And the manner in which it was posted and the reply from Jenn does tempt the boundaries of it being a legal post. Thanks for not deleting it. Have a great Saturday every one, i'm off to go watch leaves blow around!!

Kenny, you remembered correctly, and it is my tractor once again. But Maynard was not in the wrong. However I would have sent a PM instead of a public announcement. This is what makes us all different. Some bear no consideration for actions, others do. Bill, Thanks for your defense as well. It's a matter of right vs. wrong and I was wrong to post the picture considering the pretense in which it was posted. ok, NOW i'm heading out to play in the leaves...lol.

Sorry for any mistakes in my thanks that were misunderstood. Still learning rules around here as well. Thanks Bill for the offer. Its greatly appreciated. To my fellow hoosiers.....lets not bring snow into this just yet...lol. Larry you are so right about clearing the head and stress relief which is why I like tinkering so much. So off I go to do a little tinkering on another project I have going.

Kenny, I recently unearthed a Riggins Dairy porch container back from the paper lid and glass bottle delivered milk days. This is what Jenn and her Mother are helping me restore. The painted surface is worn and needed re-stensiled. I cannot send a picture of it yet because it's still in Jenn's posession. As soon as she's finished with it I'll send one. I'll post it in the lounge or coffee shop. Just one of those "days gone by" things that help me keep my sanity. I found the milk box burried in my Uncles shop floor. It was surprisingly well preserved considering it had probably been under ground for at least 20 years.

Wow!! My grandpa used to deliver milk for Riggins. I bet that box is cool. My uncle had one, but not sure if it said Riggins. Jenn, I assume by your description of where you live, you may know Bob Barker (not of The Price Is Right fame)? That's who I bought my B-208 from. Good guy.
